What is Download! for PC?
It’s a free application that synchronizes with Download! on Nokia phones to make it easy to find, try, and buy mobile content and applications from your computer. You can see the range of compatible applications and content and easily select and transfer them to your Nokia phone. Download! for PC works with a growing number of Nokia phones. What phones are compatible with Download! for PC?
There are a growing number of Nokia phones compatible with Download! for PC. See if your phone is included on the Download page. If your phone is not yet compatible with Download! for PC, you may still have Download! mobile software on your phone. It’s commonly found on the main menu or in the Internet folder. The Download! icon looks like this:

Note that this version of Download! mobile software is not compatible with Download! for PC during the BETA trial phase.

What version of Nokia PC Suite do I need to install and run Download! for PC?
Nokia PC Suite version 6.82 or newer, or Nokia Nseries PC Suite.

What are the PC requirements to run Download! for PC?

  • Windows XP Professional or Home Edition.
  • At least 100MB of free disk space.
  • At least 256Mb of memory, however 512MB is recommended.
  • Administrator rights.
  • Internet connection.
  • At least one of the following: USB connection cable (DKU-2, DKE-2, CA-53 or CA-70) and a compatible port on the PC, Bluetooth wireless technology accessory and software, or Infrared port on the PC.

NOTE: Bluetooth technologies and their versions may not be supported by your Nokia phone. Check your phone’s user guide for further details on compatible Bluetooth technologies.

What languages are supported in the Download! for PC software?
English, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian, Turkish, Portuguese, and French.

What do I need to do to see content or applications when I open Download! for PC?
To be able to view content and applications, you need to connect a compatible phone to the PC and associate it with Download! for PC. To find out how to connect your phone to the PC, refer to section 3.2 of the Download! for PC User Guide >>

After the first connection, you will always find your phone in the drop-down list on the left hand side of the Download! for PC screen. When the device is connected to the PC and is active in Download! for PC, you can see the image of the device. When the device is not connected, the image is dimmed.

What content can I access from Download! for PC?
You’ll be able to see the same great content and applications that are available from Download! on your phone – games, videos, music tones, graphics, software and more. There are free applications from Nokia plus a range of content and applications that you can buy from other providers via Catalogs. What is Nokia Catalogs?
Catalogs is like a virtual shopping mall on your mobile phone, filled with content and applications offered by many globally recognized brands and local providers. You can find the Catalogs offerings in Download! on your mobile phone, and also when you browse via Download! for PC. The content available varies depending on what Nokia phone you have and where you are located. You can see a sample of the content selection available through Catalogs here on the Content selection page >>

How is Download! for PC different from Download! on my Nokia phone?
Download! for PC is simply another way to find, browse, preview, and download the great range of content and applications available from Download! on your phone. In some cases, you may find larger applications only from Download! for PC.

How can I find out if Download! on my Nokia phone is compatible with Download! for PC?
You can find the list of compatible phones on the Download page. You need to have version 3.1.50 of Download! on your Nokia phone in order to connect to Download! for PC. You can either transfer this version to your phone from the Download page or you can first check your phone software version by clicking on the Download! icon > select Options > Application > About. The Download! software version is shown on your phone screen.

Why do I need to install a new version of Download! on my phone?
The version of Download! that came with your phone is a stand-alone portal that makes it easy to find, try and download mobile content when you are mobile. In order to access the same great content via your PC, you need to install a different version of Download! on your phone. This is a temporary, additional step in the installation process until the Download! for PC beta trial is completed later in 2007.

How do I tell the difference between Download! that was originally on my phone and the new version I’ve installed for the Download! for PC beta trial?
The original Download! icon looks like this:

When browsing and downloading content from your phone, you can use either version of Download! Both include the same great content and applications. When you browse and download content from your PC using Download! for PC, the PC software will automatically synchronize with D! Beta on your phone.

How do I preview content in Download! for PC?
Just like Download! on your phone, you can preview some content before you buy. A preview for a game in Download! for PC is typically an image, while a preview for a ringtone is typically an audio clip. Simply select Preview in the list of content or in the content details view. Download! for PC then opens a preview window which you can close once you’ve finished previewing the content.

How do I get content and applications using Download! for PC?
It’s easy! You simply click the download button (for free items) or buy button next to the content. Then follow the prompts on the screen.

How much do items available through Download! for PC cost?
Applications that you can find in the Home view of Download! for PC are free of charge. Catalogs may contain both free content and content that needs to be purchased. The prices vary depending on the content and application. You can see the price of the downloadable content next to the name and description. The price is also shown in the Content Details view.

How do I know when a software upgrade is available for Download! for PC?
If a new version of Download! for PC is available, you will see a message in the Notification panel at the bottom of the Download! for PC screen when you are online. Click the arrow button next to the message to start the upgrade.
If you have a Nokia Nseries, Download! for PC updates will be delivered and installed automatically via Nokia Nseries Update Manager.

When does my phone need to be connected to Download! for PC?
You should connect your phone to your PC when performing the following tasks with Download! for PC:

  • Using Download! for PC for the first time
  • Purchasing content using the SMS payment method
  • Purchasing content that is digitally protected
  • Copying content between the PC and your phone
  • Removing content from your phone

Why does some content transfer directly to my phone when I download it?
Content that is digitally protected is transferred directly to your phone. For this protected content, you are unable to commence a download unless your phone is connected to the PC and active within Download! for PC.

Do I have to pay for Download! for PC software?
No. Download! for PC software is free. You may have to pay for Internet connections and/or content that you buy via Download! for PC.

Do the content and applications offered through Download! for PC come from Nokia?
Content and applications may come from Nokia or from other parties. With Download! for PC, you can read descriptions of content and applications, plus preview the offerings to learn more about them.

I’m having trouble installing Download! for PC, what should I do?
First check that you have all of the PC requirements to support the Download! for PC software by checking the relevant FAQ on this page. What is the .NET Framework and why may this need to be installed as part of the Download! for PC installation process?
The .NET Framework is a set of libraries provided by Microsoft which are needed to run Download! for PC. If your PC does not already have .NET Framework then this component will be included in the Download! for PC installation process. The .NET Framework is free to download and install. If you are asked to install the .NET Framework, please accept the prompts and wait until installation is complete before continuing. Note that .NET Framework installation may take up to 10 minutes.

Is there any cost associated with installing the .NET Framework on my PC?
No, the .NET Framework is free. There are no licence fees or other software costs associated with this step in the Download! for PC installation process.

I bought some content via Download! for PC, how do I transfer it to my phone?
Content that is digitally protected will be automatically transferred to your phone. Simply follow the prompts that are shown on the Download! for PC screen. To copy other content types between the PC and your phone, click the Mobile Content tab in My Downloads. From here you can copy content in both directions between the PC and your phone.
